For the nostalgic.
My love of film started while I was working at Henry’s Camera store in high school. They had a recycling program where people would come in and leave their old 35mm cameras to dispose of. Thinking they were broken, I took them home to use as props. One day, I really inspected one and realized it was still working perfectly- it even still had film in it. I shot the remainder of the roll, had it developed and was instantly in love. I went on to take a film photography class as part of my photography degree at OCAD University which really helped me learn better techniques along with processing and developing in the darkroom- a whole new appreciation for the process.
Fast forward 10ish years and I’m still taking my trusty Canon AE-1 around wherever I go (quite literally as I have it tattooed on my left forearm). There’s just something magical about taking the extra time to frame, adjust lighting and snap a photo or two paired with the growing anticipation of seeing the results.
I would love to use more film with my clients. If you’re drawn to the nostalgia, the grain, and the surprise of awaiting each photograph- I’m your girl, let’s shoot some film!
